Text PDFs and scanned PDFs behave differently
A text PDF contains selectable text and usually converts more cleanly. A scanned PDF is primarily an image and may need OCR before PDF-to-Word or PDF-to-Excel conversion can recover usable text.

Choose the output for the job
Use PDF to Word for editable narrative documents, PDF to Excel for tables, PDF to JPG/PNG for page images, PDF Extract Images for embedded assets, and PDF to Text for plain text processing.
Preserve quality and privacy
Review fonts, columns, tables, page breaks, and images after conversion. Browser-first tools are preferable for local work; server-powered jobs should clearly explain temporary processing and cleanup.

Run OCR on a scanned document, convert it to the target format, review the first and last pages plus complex tables, then download the result and keep the original PDF for comparison.
