PDF splitting lets you extract exactly the pages you need from a large document without re-editing it. You can extract a single page, a range (e.g. pages 3–7), or split the entire PDF into individual one-page files.

Common use cases: extracting a chapter from a large ebook, pulling specific invoices from a bundled statement, splitting a multi-page scan into individual documents, or trimming a report to share only the executive summary pages.

Processing runs on FormatNest's server. The source PDF is deleted within 60 minutes. Extracted pages are packaged as individual PDFs or as a ZIP archive if you extract multiple ranges.

How to use it

Can I extract specific pages rather than splitting the whole document?

Yes. Enter any combination of individual pages and ranges (e.g. 1, 3-5, 7). Each range becomes a separate output PDF.

What is the output — one file or many?

Each extracted range becomes its own PDF. If you extract multiple ranges or split all pages, the files download as a ZIP archive.

Will bookmarks and links survive the split?

Bookmarks pointing to pages within the extracted range are preserved. Links pointing to pages not included in the range will be broken in the output.

Can I split a password-protected PDF?

No. Remove the password with PDF Unlock first.

How do I split a 200-page PDF into individual pages?

Upload the file and choose 'Split all pages' mode. The tool produces 200 individual PDFs packaged in a ZIP archive.
